Klub Päris Fantastiline
Book One: The Ninth Case File: Mikey
June 25, 1921. Nine year old Mikey Alden vanishes from the garden of his family’s rural guesthouse in a matter of moments. Despite a desperate search by his parents and a suspicious police officer, the boy was never found. The local Mayor, a corrupt, Civil War veteran, is the prime suspect – but he has a perfect alibi. He was sitting in an office with the boy’s father at the exact moment Mikey disappeared.
For decades, the mystery of ‘the slow, trusting boy’ remains frozen in time, overshadowed by the ominous Feikes estate and a family legacy built on Prussian nobility and Prohibition-era crime.
Forty-five years later. Detective Carl Knudson inherits a suitcase from his father that was never meant to see the light of day. Inside are antique police case files marked for destruction and a canvas pouch containing twelve slivers of human bone. Each fragment is meticulously labeled. One name, scribbled in a child’s handwriting, stands out among the rest: Mikey.
Utilizing a dual-timeline narrative, Klub Päris Fantastiline (Pretty Fantastic Club) is a gritty noir thriller that explores the dark intersection of corruption and tragedy. It is the first in a series following Detective Knudson as he is compelled to give a voice to the twelve names in the suitcase – starting with the boy who vanished from The Roseberry.
