Strangers until one tragic night, two women are snatched and bundled into a truck full of drunken Russian soldiers.  The women already suspect their fate; army camps from which there is no return, if they make it that far!  Hours into the journey, one seizes her opportunity and jumps from the back of the truck into the blackness of night.  Injured and in pain, she’s certain that her new found friend will follow suit.  But the truck and her acquaintance continue into the gloom.  Desolated and alone in unfamiliar lands, she takes her first agonising steps towards an unforeseeable future.

 

The discovery of a small book in her pocket as she makes her way delivers a startling revelation.  It’s not her book and she knows it wasn’t there when the filthy rabble smashed through the doors of her family home and kicked her grandmother half to death.  Not until the feeble rays of daylight arrive is she able to read the first few words of the hurriedly written scrawl.  ‘Find my Inga.’
